What makes a technical pension penguin?

Interview with Penguin Nick

Lately, we have been profiling some of the ‘penguins’ who work for Carey Corporate Pensions, letting our clients know all about their unique personalities and their roles at the company.

We like to call our pensions specialists penguins because we know that they can help you navigate through the often sketchy, iceberg prone waters of retirement planning, workplace pensions and auto-enrolment. Today we are talking to one of our technical penguins, Nick.

Hi Nick, and thanks for speaking with us. What is your role at Carey’s?

I am the Technical and Compliance Analyst.

What do you do on a day to day basis at Carey’s?

I deal with technical queries and sign off on third party contracts. Basically, I spend a lot of time monitoring and auditing work and dealing with many nice calculations. This is a  very varied role!

Do you have any hobbies outside of Carey’s?

I do! I play classical guitar – romanza, and I love to play Flamenco music. I socialise a fair bit, and enjoy the odd video game.

Which is your favourite thing about Pensions?

I enjoy the fact that they are cut and dry – they are very orderly, and I enjoy learning about the rules around them.

What is your favourite thing about working at Carey’s?

This company is very personable – it is always easy to go and talk to a colleague. Because this company is growing, there is always a lot of opportunity for advancement and to diversify my role.

Tell us a fun fact about you

I became vegan about 6 months ago – not a very good diet for a penguin!

How long have you worked at Carey,s?

I have been here since February 2016.

What’s your favourite thing about Penguins?

I love the pop culture references, like on Parks and Recreation – when they marry two gay penguins! Also, penguins mate for life, as I learned while watching March of the Penguins.

What makes Carey’s different to every other pensions company?

We have personable service and we are a one-stop shop for both corporate or individual pensions.
